The Heavens open

Today was Daniel’s first official day of work in his career, not just any old job, his career! Though he has been employed in the Foreign Service for almost a year it has all been training. I got him up and out the door and secretly watched from the front window as he drove away - my guy is all grown up. **sigh** (hee, hee)

My day was not quite so thrilling. I unpacked our suitcases, rearranged furniture to my liking and visited with my wonderful neighbour across the street. As I was walking back home the cloudy skies opened into a light rain. Fantastic! Given the geographic location of Oman it does not rain here very often which is hard for me because I LOVE rain. What a perfect day.

Back to Daniel, his first day went well - full of getting situated kind of stuff and visa interviews. He came home after work for a visit and to tell me about his day and was out again to attend a reception at the Ambassador’s house. Mingling and schmoozing with yummy food. Such is the life of a diplomat. ;-)

As for my work future, well, I need to get my CV done so I can start applying for positions. In fact, I’ll get on that right now!

Ta, ta!

Hi Katie and Dan....
We are so pleased and relieved that you have arrived safe and sound in your new home! Your blog is so very interesting and informative .. Have you thought of doing some moonlighting writing for travel magazines. We were talking to your Mom in Winnipeg today about the possibility of the kids coming here for a few days over Christmas. It is a matter of travel arrangements. We will keep you posted on that front. In the meantime enjoy your new environs and have the happiest of holidays . With love Grandpa & Wendy
