We're home!

Well, it has been a long two days! We checked out of the hotel yesterday at noon and went to JFK airport. We checked in with relative ease for our business class seats (sweet!) and in our conversation the agent casually mentioned the whereabouts of the Admirals Club (you know those snazzy ones in airports behind the sliding glass doors). Unsure if I was understanding her comment I asked “You mean we get go in there?!” “Why yes of course” the kind lady answered. Turns out it is one of the perks of flying business/first class. This worked out perfectly. We had gotten there hours early because Daniel had meetings with DHS folks and while I had gotten a good book to read, I did not relish sitting on uncomfortable airport chairs.

So Dan went to his appointment and I went to the ritzy, rich people club. It was soo nice! The airport was crazy and loud and hectic as airports usually are, but inside this place it was quiet, calm and comfortable. I could get used to this! I sat for the next couple of hours eating free snacks and drinking free drinks as I read. This was exactly what I needed after running about in airports so much the past few weeks.

The flights themselves were pretty great too. It is amazing what a difference it makes in ones flying experience to actually have room to stretch out. We flew out to London about 7pm New York time last night and arrived here in Muscat a little after 10pm local time. Not bad I guess. We were just happy to make it at all. Our connection in Heathrow airport had been pretty tight and our plane arrived late. But it all turned out okay. Whew.

We were greeted at the airport by a embassy employee and a native from Muscat who works at the embassy. They were both really nice and helped us out a ton.

Which brings us to now. It is now 12:15am, Thursday morning. I am sitting on my bed in my new room in my freaking HUGE house. It has two stories, three bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, two balconies, tons of storage and a really big backyard (with grass and trees!) We are so excited! I never imagined anything so big. Part me is worried though, it is going to be a full time job just keeping it clean! I’ll worry about that later. But basically what I am getting at is that we are more than comfortable (for those of you who were worried) and have TONS of space of visitors!!!

Well, it’s late so I’m going to head to bed.
