Dearborn: Day 4

Today was another lovely, albeit kind of grey, cold and dreary, day in Michigan. We started out the day by reading Arabic newspapers (something we do every morning). After reading the newspaper we went to the office of the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee. We met with the director. It was good. He spoke really clear and in Modern Standard Arabic which is what I am learning, making it much easier to understand.

After that Maha, Megan and I went for lunch at a yummy Mediterranean restaurant called Pinelands and then went to a local mosque. At the mosque we met up with my classmate, his wife and my teacher, Awatif. Unfortunately the three of us got there too late and missed the sermon and the prayer. Oh well.

This evening we drove about an hour and a half West to Lansing where we met an Egyptian woman at her home. She invited some of her friends over and we all talked. These women were a blast; three Egyptian and a Lebanese. They talked and laughed loudly. We had a fantastic time, they were all so much fun. It was like getting together with a group of friends that I had known for years, they just welcomed us like that. I hope Omanis are just as friendly.
