Dearborn: Day 1

Today was the official start of our Arabic immersion. Sadly there is not much to report as the day was spent traveling. We left FSI around 9am and drove until we arrived- about 10 hours later.

Once settled in our hotel rooms I went out with a classmate of mine and his wife. We checked out the area by stopping by some local store and produce markets. After stopping at a few stores we went to an Arab restaurant called Hamido. It was really good. We ate humus and falafel. Maybe not the wisest thing since none of us was hungry and it was so late but still it was soo good!

On the way to Dearborn I tried to take pictures in the car but they weren't turning out so great so I stopped. However, as I was going through the photos I noticed the street sign in the background: "Damascus Boulevard". This is funny since we were traveling to America's "Little Middle East" as it were and more so since the girl in the picture (Maha) is Syrian-American.
