Yesterday we got some info on our housing in Oman. It sounds fantastic! We will be living in a furnished villa with 3 bedrooms (lots of space for visitors-**hint, hint**)! Per the description it also has a living room, dining room, kitchen, shaded parking and "a nice backyard". I am very excited about the last one because a lot of times people end up with concrete for a backyard in Muscat since culturally people don't spend a lot of time in their yard. There are a few things we are unsure of such as number of bathrooms. Also, we know that the villa is two stories but we're not clear if our space is the second floor of the villa or the whole thing.
We were so excited we looked up our address on Google Earth. I have posted some snapshots for you of the area we will be in. It looks so pretty. There look to be a fair number of trees and it is really close to beach. Feel free to check it out on

Yeah, we are really excited. Muscat definitely has some advantages, housing being one of them. I'm sure going to be envying your yard though. I doubt ours will be very big or allow for any kind of a garden. I will have to live vicariously though you guys.
Love the google earth shots! We can't wait to see what it all looks like once you get there and start posting pictures. Ethan hates to travel, and any of it that we'll be doing will be becuase I MADE him. You guys are going to go live such an adventure! I'm green with envy...

Hello there - you recently posted on our blog so I thought I'd come and check out yours ! We've checked out where you are going to be living and we wanted to let you know that it's a very nice area indeed. Very posh ! The houses are sometimes a little older, but still lovely. I would have thought that if you are moving in to a villa the whole place would be yours. Most villa's here are two stories, so it's unlikely that you will have to share your space.

Thank you for your post! We are most excited about where we'll be living and even more so now that someone on the ground has scouted it out.
I also appreciate the insight on "villa norms" as it were. The way the email to us was worded made me doubt that the whole thing would be ours, and though we'll still have to wait and see it is nice to know that such an instance would be uncommon.
