Since the change of plans was a last minute decision Daniel didn't know I'd be coming home one day early, giving me the opportunity to surprise him. He had a conference in DC that went until 6pm and last I had talked to him, he said he would be home about 8pm. So, racing against the elements I made it home by 7:55pm. Whew! And then I waited for what I knew would be the surprise (and probably startled) look on his face. Ooooh, it was going to be good. So I waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. Finally at about 9:30 he came home but before he saw me rushed to the phone - to call me! Dang. In the other room I heard him call my roommate (who had let me use her cell to call Dan). He asked her if I was there. Confused and concerned (she had dropped me off almost two hours earlier thinking that Dan was already there or would be shortly). She said that I wasn't and that maybe I should look around the apartment and then call her back if there were any problems. Daniel hung up the phone and asked "Katie are you here?" Very disappointed that my carefully choreographed plan and hours of tedious waiting had been blown I walked into the room he was in and said in a deflated voice: "Surprise".
Oh well. And so ends my Arabic trip. Hope you enjoyed the updates!

On the way home we took a small detour to visit Lake Erie.
Smile quick and run before you are blown away!
