Theodore Roosevelt Island

This weekend we took the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery of the DC area by going to Theodore Roosevelt Island. The island is a memorial to the 26th president of the United States on a 91 acre wooded island on the Potomac. It has great hiking/walking paths and a courtyard with some fountains and a statue of the Roosevelt himself.

To get to the island you park and then walk over a foot bridge. From there the courtyard is a short walk through the woods.

A shot of the courtyard.
Close up on the statue.

One of the two fountains flanking the statue.

Circling the courtyard were four tablets with quotes from Roosevelt.

All around the courtyard was a small stream/ water feature thingy (very technical). We sat behind it and read.
Daniel ;)
A close up on us (eek!)

Katie reading.
