In an effort to pack in everything that we could we took Emma on a whirlwind tour of Southern Utah's natural beauty.
We left Friday night and stayed in St George where Emma saw her FIRST palm tree. Then we left the next morning for Zion National Park where we wandered around and saw Weeping Rock and played in a river, and hiked to the base of a waterfall. Later that day we drove to Bryce Canyon National Park.
At Bryce's we watched the sunset over the hoodoos- it was spectacular!!! We ended the day with popcorn and hot chocolate.
On Sunday we drove to Escalante to an obscure trail head to Calf Creek. Getting to the beautiful oasis was no small feat. First we had to walk carefully down the slippery slate cliff and trough the scorching sand and lava field. Then we had to trek through a jungle like forest when we came to the beautiful Calf Creek. We followed the stream until its end at a calm mountain pool and water fall. Amazing! But we the adventure was not over! We had to make the trip back up through the sand, over the cliffs and up the lava field.
All in all it was worth it- but we were wondering if that was the case near the end!
By the time we got we were beat (especially Dan who had driven the WHOLE time!). With bad sunburns to demonstrate as badges of honour for our hardships we rolled into beds and straight to sleep.
Can't wait until next weekend...
